Warren + Rahel = Musicology - May 23, 2008
Violinist and Classical Guitarist Warren Rasmussen has joined forces with acoustic guitarist Rahel to form Musicology. Together they perform a variety of music especially designed to provide an elegant background for weddings, parties and corporate happenings.
For wedding ceremonies people often want classical music favorites such as the Canon in D, Ode To Joy, Air on the G String, etc. Rahel's fingerstyle guitar fills out the Harp like chordal harmonies while Warren plays the familiar melody lines on the violin.
Sometimes instead of classical music, couples want either modern pop tunes to be played or sung and sometimes they want traditional Celtic, Scandinavian, Jewish or other ethnic music. Again, Warren plays the melody on the violin while Rahel provides the appropriate guitar accompianment. If vocals are desired we can be joined by Terrie Morreale from Meadowsweet (see below). Terrie and Warren sing a wide variety of vocal music including favorite hymns, famous duets, operatic arias and pop tunes.
After the wedding ceremony is completed the bride and groom usually go off to have their picture taken. During this time there is often a cocktail party followed by a dinner.
For parties, banquets, and corporate events including store openings and other gatherings Musicology provides a variety of music to serve as a tasteful non-intrusive but interesting background. For these types of events clients can choose from classical music such as described above, 1930's classic jazz and swing tunes, and Celtic and International waltzes and fiddle tunes.
On the Classical and Acoustic Guitars Warren and Rahel also offer Latin, Blues, Ragtime, Pop and even Original tunes.
Altogether it makes for a pleasing, changing mix of styles for the listner.
For those who would like to enliven their wedding reception or event. Musicology can engage the guests in some traditional American and/or Isreali folk dancing. Rahel teaches the steps and does the calling while she plays the guitar and Warren plays the fiddle. This is a great fun activity for young and old alike and guests can enjoy the dancing even if they didn't initially come with a partner.
Every wedding and special event is unique and we have enjoyed all the unusual gatherings we have been a part of. Since we perform a wide variety of music and musical styles we work hard to try and provide our clients with a special mix of musical entertainment tailored just for your special occasion. We look forward to working with you.
